Broadband for European Regions, from availability to penetration: the satellite contribution

 

SABER (Satellite Broadband for European Regions) final conference aimed to disseminate to all the European Regions the successful results achieved throughout the project.
Indeed, the main goal of SABER thematic network is to create the conditions for the most efficient and effective contribution of satellite systems to support the achievement of the objectives set in Europe 2020 and subsequently in the Digital Agenda for Europe (DAE) by involving European Regions.

 

The conference has been an international event under the patronage of the Italian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.


The morning was split in two panels held by representatives of Regions, EU Parliament, EU Commission, ESA, Satellite Operators, Satellite constructors and moderated by Roya Ayazi (Secretary General of NEREUS) and Oliver Johnson (CEO of Point Topic):

  • Panel 1: Satellite broadband in regional strategies within the EU framework: where do we stand?
  • Panel 2: Satellite solutions of the future at the service of Regions, industries and citizens: looking ahead with a new EU Digital Agenda

The afternoon was dedicated to present the work done by SABER network during these two years and allowed full interaction with the audience.
