NEM - New Economy Manchester, UK
New Economy is the agency owned by the 10 local authorities of Greater Manchester (GM) to create economic growth and prosperity. We work with the wider Association of Greater Manchester Authorities' (AGMA) family of public sector organisations, businesses and universities across Manchester to inform, inspire, influence and innovate to deliver AGMA's vision of 'prosperity for all'. New Economy led the production of the Greater Manchester Strategy, within which the provision of Next-Generation Broadband was identified as a strategic priority. As a result of this, a number of options for broadband rollout across GM have been explored, and New Economy have led negotiations with the UK Government around broadband investment through their Urban Broadband Fund and the BDUK rural programme covering the region's peripheral areas.
